Acts 1:8 has been our model for missions here at FBCM. Our mission ministries extend from our community and the surrounding areas here in Georgia, to our nation, and around the world. As God directs and provides, we will continue to follow Him wherever He leads us and into whatever new ministries He has planned for us.
Our Jerusalem...
Last year in our community 820 families were served in our Lighthouse Community Ministries Center where we distributed clothing, toiletries, and over 26,278 pounds of food. Our congregation and community organizations combined to provide almost 1000 backpacks full of school supplies to area children. Our WMU packaged and distributed gift bags to area school teachers.
Our Lighthouse Women's Center continues to be a beacon of hope to women who need residential care during a time of crisis.
Our Judea...
Reaching further to the surrounding areas in our state, our ministry of providing meals to the homeless continues as our members gather to make sandwiches and pack bag lunches to be distributed in Atlanta every week. Individual members also participate in prison ministries, construction and handyman ministries, associational mission projects, and various mission endeavors as God leads them.
Our Samaria...
God has incredibly blessed this church with members who love to travel to other areas of the United States to participate in mission trips. Mission teams from FBCM have traveled to 18 states on 25 mission trips.
Just after Hurricane Katrina destroyed much of the Gulf Coast, our church sponsored a truck loading project for an area of South Louisiana, completely packing the cargo space of a 52 foot truck. A mission trip also traveled to assist with clean up efforts in New Orleans.
To the ends of the earth...
God has opened doors in ways we could never imagine and provided for 19 mission teams to travel to 11 countries around the world over the past few years. Teams have conducted Vacation Bible Schools, preached and led Bible studies, provided music programs, helped with construction projects, distributed food and clothing, participated in door-to-door evangelism, and assisted career missionaries in ongoing ministry efforts. We are excited about what God is going to do in the future through the missions ministry at FBCM.
